Scale is from 1- 10 (10 of course being the highest)
Arizona
Phoenix (2) - Nothing, its way to hot and the only thing green is the money in your pocket! The airport is nice and they have great shops and transportation but as far as I am concerned, Phoenix is a layover only!!
Jerome (8)- An awesome stop on the way to Sedona. An old copper mining town with historical buildings and museums at every corner. The town was/is built on a hill overlooking the mine and off in the distance you can see the Tuzigoot ruins another great stop! Just about any little place in the town is great to eat and they have reasonable rates the Ghost Inn bed and Breakfast. I spent at least 5 hours walking around going in and out of the old western style shops looking at everything from gems, copper and even homemade hard candy!
Sedona (10) - Not even sure where to begin on this one. Sedona has everything from celebrities to working cowboys. There has been over 100 major films shot here and Nicholas Cage has an enormous house on the out skirts of town. The cowboy club has the best ribeye I ever had and there buffalo burger is out of this world. The weather is anywhere from 75 to 85 with no humidity, equals out to the perfect day, every day! Beware of all the touristy stuff, some of the places they offer to take you you can go yourself with a four wheel drive vehicle and a red rock pass, ($10.00 bucks for a week). The Coffee Pot diner is the place to go for more food than you can handle for a limited amount of money. Make sure you take about $500.00 dollars more than you planned, its not the cheapest vacation in the world but extremely memorable!
Flagstaff (7) - Just stopped through long to fuel up and take a ride on the historic Rt 66, so I could say I was on it! There is an enormous amount of stuff to do in Flagstaff and it’s less than hour from the Grand Canyon. However we did eat at the Denny’s just of the main highway and it was the biggest and best breakfast I've eaten from this chain.
Grand Canyon (10)- GO!! What an unbelievable experience this was! The first view of the canyon (South Rim) was jaw dropping! The views are breath taking in person and the photography is worth the trip alone. Make sure you stop at the visitor center and watch the IMAX movie, it’s worth it! I only had time to tour the southern end of the canyon and the Hopi House with the final portion of the day at the watch tower for a beautiful sunset. Where else can you drive around and see a herd of Elk sunning themselves or have a squirrel come up to your feet looking for food on one of the many daily hikes! All I can say is, I can't wait to go back and spend even more time hiking, camping and just being in one of the greatest creations I have ever seen.
