Bootleg Canyon Flightlines
8/7/09

While out in Vegas the guys decided to check Bootleg Canyon Flightlines in Boulder City, NV.  The thrill ride is exactly that!  You start with some training after signing the waivers of instant death, of course, and then travel by van up to the top of the canyon.  You have to hike a few hundred feet to get to the first platform and then just wait to hook up and you’re off.  The flight itself was just plain awesome, I guess if I had to describe it, it would be like soaring as if you were an Eagle coming in on prey.

The adventure takes about 3 hours and there are 4 levels of zipping involved and when its over, you want to do it all over again.  The 1/2 mile zipline is the second longest zipline in the USA and the scenery is amazing, Lake Meade to your left and Vegas to your right and nothing but the dry canyon floor beneath your feet.  It seemed pricey at first, but in the end it was worth every penny!  See for yourself.

Platform Camping in a NC Swamp
9/27 - 9/28/08

Several members of AdventureMyths got together and headed south to test the challenge of the Roanoke River Platform camping trip.  The team arrived at a small marina in Robertsville, N.C., on Saturday, September 27th, 2008 at around noon and loaded up the canoes with camping gear.  After a seven and a half mile trip by canoe, the team set up camp on a 20 ft by 20 ft wood platform in the swamp.  If you have never spent the night, miles from nowhere, in the middle of nothing, with nothing but total darkness and the screams of Barred Owls, than this is a true test of endurance and handling fear with nowhere to go at 2:00 am when you’re awakened by the creatures in the swamp. You can find out more about the platforms and reservations at http://www.roanokeriverpartners.org.  The video for this adventure can be viewed on our video page under the YouTube section.

I think the Map above says it all!

Nelson Rocks, WV - The Via Ferrata
7/12/08 0800 - 1300 hr.

We finally made it out to climb the Via Ferrata, "The Iron Way", a half mile of steel cable that runs vertically up over 600' feet of what certainly seems an instant death, should one fail to properly connect their carabineer. Although the West Virginia thrill ride has the highest caliber of safety practices in place, there is the possibility of not coming down in one whole piece. All kidding aside, this was by far one of the most exhilarating experiences we have ever done!

The self-belayed course was an extreme challenge with the ultimate reward of self -satisfaction!  Last but not least a big thanks to the Rock Climbing guides that kept us safe and entertained us as we climbed by… Tim, Zeband Jim,our hats are off to ya!   The video for this adventure can be viewed on our video page and photos can be viewed on our Facebook page.

Organ Cave
3/10/07

For AdventureMyths first adventure, we traveled to Hearts Run, WV to explore Organ Cave.  We had an excellent guide, Janie, who took us miles underground to see the world from a whole new view.  During our half day adventure we came nose to nose with bats, climbed many rock tubes, scaled rock ledges and crossed streams...all by the light of our head lamps.

Janie was kind enough to take us to caves that were used during the Civil War, complete with artifacts.  The video for the adventure can be viewed on our video page.  For more information on this adventure call (304) 645-7600 or visit www.OrganCave.com
